Is this for you?
CBT-informed counselling may suit you if:
- You like the idea of practical strategies you can use between sessions
- Anxious or self-critical thoughts loop in ways you would like to interrupt
- Certain situations trigger habits or avoidance you want to change
- You have tried pure CBT before and wanted more space to be heard alongside the techniques
What happens in a session
Sessions are still counselling first: you bring what matters, and you are listened to. Where it helps, we add CBT-informed elements, such as noticing and questioning recurring thoughts, understanding the cycle between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, and trying small, agreed experiments between sessions. Nothing is imposed. If a tool does not fit, we set it aside and work another way.

Common questions
Is this proper CBT? I use CBT approaches within counselling rather than delivering a standalone CBT programme. For many people that blend is exactly what works; if you specifically want a manualised CBT-only programme, I am happy to say so in our free chat and help you think about options.
Will I get homework? Only if it is useful and you are willing. Some clients value between-session practice; others do not, and that is fine.
Can CBT-informed counselling help with anxiety? CBT approaches are often helpful for anxious thinking patterns, and they are one of the tools we can use. See the Anxiety page for more.
