Is online counselling right for you?
Online counselling suits many people:
- You live outside Edinburgh, or travel often
- Work, caring responsibilities or health make getting to Leith difficult
- You simply feel more comfortable talking from your own space
- You want to keep sessions consistent through busy or unpredictable weeks
It is individual counselling only; couples sessions are in person at the practice in Leith. And if you ever want to switch to meeting in person, that door is open.
How it works
Sessions happen by video call at an agreed time and last the full 60 minutes, exactly like in-person sessions. Before your first session you will receive a simple link, and there is nothing to install beyond an everyday video calling setup.
All you need is:
- A reasonably stable internet connection
- A private space where you will not be overheard for an hour
- Headphones, which help with both privacy and sound quality
Sessions and fees
- 60-minute individual sessions by video call
- £50 per hour
- Free 15-minute introductory chat first

Common questions
Is online counselling as good as in person? For many people it works very well, and some prefer it. The relationship matters more than the room. The free chat is a good way to test how talking remotely feels.
What if the connection drops? We agree a simple backup plan in advance, usually continuing by phone, so a glitch never costs you your session.
Can I have online couples counselling? No, couples counselling is in person only at the Leith practice.
I am not in Scotland. Can we still work together? Yes, online counselling is available across the UK.
