Is this for you?
Relationships counselling is one-to-one work centred on how you relate to the people in your life. It may help if:
- The same arguments or distances keep repeating with a partner
- A family relationship feels strained, painful or stuck
- Friendships or work relationships drain more than they give
- You notice patterns, perhaps people-pleasing, withdrawing or flaring up, and want to understand where they come from
- A relationship has ended and you are working out what happened and what comes next
If you and your partner want to attend together, see Couples Counselling instead. This page is for individual work.
What happens in a session
We look at your relationships with curiosity rather than blame. Transactional analysis is often useful here, because it gives a clear, jargon-free way of seeing the roles and patterns we slip into with other people. Alongside that, person-centred and psychodynamic work helps connect present difficulties to their roots, and practical CBT-informed tools can support change between sessions. As with all my work, the approach is shaped around you.

Common questions
My partner will not come to counselling. Is it still worth it? Yes, it can be. Working on your own side of a relationship can shift the whole dynamic, and many clients come precisely because their partner will not.
Is this the same as couples counselling? No. This is individual work about your relationships. Couples counselling is when both partners attend together; see the Couples Counselling page.
Can we talk about family rather than romantic relationships? Absolutely. Family, friendship and workplace relationships are all welcome here.
